- Synopsis
- One of Islam’s great pillars, the hajj, serves as a backdrop for a moving and heartwarming story of reconciliation between a traditional North African father and his French-raised, thoroughly Westernized son. Mustapha is convinced the end of his life is in sight and there is nothing he wants more than to make a pilgramage to Mecca. Recruiting his youngest son Réda to accompany him on the trip, a host of conflicts arrise. Réda’s modern ways are too much for Mustapha to handle, especially for 24-hours at a time. Proving a lesson on life and reconciliation, the trip follows them as they drive form their home in a French suburb to Mecca, through Europe and Middle East, interacting with colorful characters all along the way.
Featuring standout performances form one of Morocco’s finest actors, Mohammed Majid, and white-hot young French heartthrob Nicolas Cazale, this film marks the emergence of a major new talent form the Arab world in director Ismael Ferroukhi.- Awards
