Synopsis
Football Stories is a made for television cartoon series with 26 half-hour episodes.

The Rules of Football are presented and illustrated one by one, and each rule has its own episode set in different periods of history.

The two main characters are Mac the referee and Mic the reporter. They appear in every episode, with Mac's character changing according to the period of history in which each episode is set. They take part in a variety of adventures, as they explain the rules of football and point out some of the more curious features of the king of sports. However, when it comes to the rules everything they have to teach us is scrupulously accurate, right down to the last detail.

Above all, Football Stories tries to develop and convey the values of 'Fair Play '. To this end extensive use has been made of the archives and documentation available from the Royal Spanish Football Federation and from FIFA, football's highest authority on all matters relating to the rules of the sport.

In order to explain each rule, we have made full use of our fascinating conversations with the two organisations referred to above. Moreover, there are masses of amusing anecdotes, which serve to bring the various subjects closer to the viewer. In short Football Stories is an enjoyable refresher course on the rules of football throughout the history of mankind.

We were all convinced that football as we know the sport today was born in Britain in the 19th century. But it seems that a new theory has come to light. According to the chronicles of the Mac dynasty (the most important and most entertaining dynasty of referees which this sport has given us), back in the Stone Age man was kicking a ball (made of stone, of course) on a pitch which is identical to the one we use in football today.

Also, according to these chronicles, it is rumoured that a referee called Mac Ali had to limit the number of players in each team to eleven in order to prevent Ali-Baba's team from fielding all of his cheating forty thieves at the same time. In addition, some texts compiled by the Mac clan after extensive excavations record that the best players in the age of the Pharaohs emerged from a most unusual youth development system - they all came from the quarries where they spent their days digging out the stones used in the construction of the pyramids.

Could it be correct, as some recently discovered engravings seem to show, that the French Revolution was triggered by a street protest over an increase in the price of football match tickets? All these rumours have been a closely kept secret - until now!

With a little imagination, and some help from Mic and Mac, we are beginning to think that the history of man and the history of football are inextricably linked.
