Synopsis

In 1782, following a sea-storm, the Moroccan ambassador's ship is shipwrecked against the coasts of Sicily. As the diplomat does not speak a word of Italian, Fra Giuseppe Vela, a Maltese brother, is requested to watch over him and to serve as an interpreter for him. To tell the truth the monk knows only a few words of Arabic, which does not trouble him in the least. Quite the contrary actually: the sly-boots is determined to make the most of the situation...
