- Synopsis
- During the 1930’s, Shanghai became one of the most glamorous cities in the world, a metropolis where wealth, ambition, power and decadence existed side by side. Three young men who have recently arrived in this modern Babylon soon find themselves doomed to a criminal life where words like friendship or camaraderie no longer make any sense. John Woo and his partner Terence Chang produce Alexi Tan’s first work, a film noir piece that closed this year’s Biennale and that describes, between gunshots and with a wealth of details, the foul atmosphere of Shanghai during this period.
