- Synopsis
- OVA Miniseries (2004-2006). 6 Episodes. For the first 3 episodes of it's 6 episode run, Diebuster appears to have approximately no relation to the original Gunbuster thematically visually or tonally, but by it's climax everything is explained and Diebuster becomes one of the most respectful and complimentary sequels in any medium.
The Director's previous work includes FLCL and this retains elements of that shows mad-cap gonzo humour, albeit slightly restrained by an actual narrative. The series' visual styles and colour palettes are also quite similar.
Original Series Director Hideaki Anno provided storyboards for the 4th episode.
