Synopsis
This is one of two surviving films of Patrick Deval, a member of Zanzibar group. (The other one is Acéphale (1968). His first short film, Zoe Bonne (1966) and his last one, Acéphale bis (1968) are sadly lost). Zoe Bonne featured Claude Chabrol playing the role of a notary who hires the young Zoe as a maid, and immediately tries to seduce her. At the end of the film, Zoe's brother (Deval himself) arrives on a motorcycle to save his sister. Deval shot Héraclite l'obscur in Tunisia in 1967, with his then-girlfriend and editor Jackie Raynal, in 35 mm and in color. He was the first Zanzibar member to shoot a film not only outside of Paris but also on an exotic location. Héraclite l'obscur is "described by its author as a "philosophical peplum".
