- Synopsis
- The legend of abandoning old people in the mountains is preserved in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan. But similar stories can be found, as folktales, here and there throughout the country. A number of poems have been written on the theme in ancient time. How about contemporary times? In this civilized society it is impossible to throw away oldsters in the mountains. One might try, but it classes as homicide. This film depicts "how old people ought to live" by comparing ancient times with today.
