- TV Series (2008-2014). Mater's Tall Tales (A Cars Toon for short) is an American animated short television series by Pixar featuring the characters Mater and Lightning McQueen from the film Cars. The episodes currently air on ABC Kids and Disney Junior and formerly on Toon Disney, Disney Channel, and Disney XD. The series first broadcast was on October 27, 2008. Production began in 2006, after the success of Cars.[1] The last new episode aired November 2, 2010 on Disney Channel. The series might return with the release of Cars 2.
Not exclusive to television, the episodes have also premiered as theatrical shorts, such as with the 2008 film Bolt. On November 2, 2010, the series was released on DVD and Blu-ray featuring 2 brand new episodes.
