Synopsis

The Infernal Affairs trilogy (readapted by Martin Scorsese in "The Departed") proved once more that the former British colony, when it wants to, knows how to play its cards and become the focus of worldwide attention once again. After diversifying their offers, Lau and Mak have returned to Hong Kong to shoot this elegant urban thriller that for the most part picks up the coordinates of their success. Its original title, whose translation would be ‘Wounded City’, fits this story like a glove, a story of characters that is bitter like the whisky with which the a detective tries to forget his girlfriend’s suicide, and sad like the past of a policeman whose father-in-law has been brutally murdered (info from cinemasitges.com).
