- Synopsis
- On 26 August 1883 the tiny volcanic island of Krakatoa erupted, unleashing a series of terrifying tsunamis and creating one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history. In less than 48 hours it destroyed hundreds of towns and villages and left more than 36,000 people dead. This spectacular factual drama, with a star-studded cast and state-of-the art special effects, draws on eyewitness accounts, contemporary interviews and modern science to tell the true story of the eruption and the devastation it caused.
