- Don Diego, master and feudal lord goes to the war and leaves his post to Gonzalo, his son, whom he authorizes to exercise tyranny over things and people, with one exception: two women, mother and daughter living in a section mill. Elvira, one of the mistresses of Don Diego, has a beautiful daughter, Elena, and Gonzalo's desire is set in both of them.
