Synopsis

A new adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. Emma was published in 1815 and follows the antics of a young woman who lives in Georgian- and Regency-era England and occupies herself with matchmaking—in sometimes misguided, often meddlesome fashion—in the lives of her friends and family. Novelist Eleanor Catton is writing the film’s screenplay. Catton won the 2013 Man Booker Prize for her novel The Luminaries; she was the youngest writer to have won the prize.
