- Su-hie cannot marry Jung-ho because his Catholic parents object to her mother being a shaman. She begins to recover from their rejection and develops feelings for Yeong-ho but Jung-ho, still in love with Su-hie, stabs the other man in a jealous rage. He is sent to prison but Su-hie turns to her shamanistic roots and prays to the sea god for assistance.
