- Leola Mae Harmon, a pregnant military nurse, is the victim of a drunk-driving accident. She loses her unborn child and is severely disfigured, her husband can't cope with the situation, and she sinks into depression. Her life slowly begins to get back on track when Dr. James Stallings takes an interest in reconstructing her face.
