Synopsis

rivate Eye Jussi Vares finds two dead bodies in a remote house; one of the victims is mutilated, like in a ritual murder case. A year later, Vares is hired to investigate the case. He finds clues that confirm the old rumor; the underworld of the Finnish west coast is controlled by an invisible godfather; The Sheriff – a man that no one knows and no one is supposed to talk about. Vares gets dangerously close to the “Council” – a secret gentlemen’s club, an executive of The Sheriff. To the members of the Council, human life is cheap. As his investigations proceed, Vares gets too close to the truth and ends up being a target himself. But a wrong person dies and to make justice happen, Vares has to step into the unmapped gray area, where the line between justice and injustice is thin. The identity of the Sheriff is revealed – but will he face his crimes in the Court of Law? Will the evil deeds be punished?
