Painfully shy Todd Anderson has been sent to the school where his popular older brother was valedictorian. His room-mate, Neil, although exceedingly bright and popular, is very much under the thumb of his overbearing father. The two, along with their other friends, meet Professor Keating, their new English teacher, who tells them of the Dead Poets Society, and encourages them to go against the status quo. Peter Weir es un as en cualquier campo que se le ponga delante. Aquí se le encasqueta un drama académico entre jovenzuelos y un profesor un poco ido y lo resuelve con naturalidad. Porque "El Club de los Poetas Muertos" es una genial película, entretenida y atractica sobre las relaciones de unos estudiantes que empiezan a saborear la vida gracias al profe Williams.
Muy justas sus alabanzas y sus nominaciones a los Oscar. Muy bueno el papel de Robin Williams así como el de Robert S.Leonard (de House como el doctor Wilson) o Ethan Hawke, también ahora famoso.
