Synopsis
A surreal and bizzaro animated take on the haunted house sub-genre, Sally Cruikshank’s “Face Like a Frog” displays an exceptional imagination and talent. Made in 1987 and shown in several festivals, it was unknown until it was aired regularly on MTV’s “Liquid Televison” and it’s later posting on YouTube around the late 2000’s. It’s notable not just for it’s exaggerated visuals, but for it’s musical involvement by then unknown film composer, Danny Elfman. A suite of his music (not including the “Don’t Go in the Basement” song) is available on a compilation CD of his lesser known film and TV involvements, “Music for a Darkened Theater”. —The Forbidden Douchebag
