- Peter Wald is a famous black ballet dancer who makes his Madrid debut. His real name is Pedro Valdés and, before becoming famous, he worked as a servant in a noble family’s house. When he meets Emma, she becomes his dancing partner. Peter is in love with her and declares to her, but Emma refuses him.
