- Synopsis
- Filmmaker Raymond Depardon studies the changing face of rural France in this documentary. The dawning of the 21st Century has brought a growing number of changes to France's independent farmers, and in Profils Paysans: L'Approche, Depardon takes a detailed look at the people behind that nation's family farms. Interviewing both young and old farmers, some retired with years of experience and others still learning the game, Profils Paysans: L'Approche focuses on the people who grow France's food as well as the challenges that face them in a changing agricultural system. Profils Paysans: L'Approche was the first in a trilogy of films by Depardon in which he examined life in French farm country; it was followed by 2005's Profils Paysans: Le Quotidian and 2008's La Vie Moderne.
