- Synopsis
- Extremadura (Spain), 19th century. Four shepherd children play cards under the shade of a fig tree, until Rogelio's arrival changes their lives forever. When they were children, the lieutenant would use rocks to keep them from roaming freely through the countryside; now they're adults, he's switched to guns. So far, his only victim is one of the sheep in their flock, but it is anybody's guess how long until one of them is next. The time has come to face him once and for all; the four friends agree to let a game of cards decide which one of them will kill their oppressor.
