Considerada como una obra maestra por gran parte de la crítica, "El séptimo sello" es un film aburrido, chato, lleno de complejidades, absurdos, delirios y sandeces. Un espectáculo de muestra como el cine puede ser un vehículo para realizar obras sin atractivos y para deprimirse al por mayor. Solo una película todavía peor "Persona" del mismo director evita que este film sea considerado uno de los peores entre las supuestas "obras maestras".
