not an easy film to watch by any means but a hugely rewarding one ( especially in its 1999 restored four hour version which mixes the remaining live action footage with photo reconstructions of scenes that have been lost for decades) zasu pitts Gibson gowland and Jean hersholt each give performances that are amongest the greatest in all cinema. a great movie well worth watching( especially the 4 hour version ). From michael from Yorkshire and proud of it.
