Cineuropa
"A cross between a character study and a gory, supernatural horror movie (...) With an obviously low budget, the film turns out to be accomplished mostly thanks to solid practical visual effects"
United States
Bloody Disgusting
"[It] boasts a strong lead performance from Brown and has quite a few impressive kill scenes, which makes it all the more frustrating that it chooses to tackle its subject matter on a strictly surface level (...) Rating: ★★½ (out of 4)"
United States
Mashable
2If you’re hooked on serial killer movies, you should definitely watch Sound of Violence. It has its fair share of problems. But there’s a lot of good in it to appreciate"
United States
Film School Rejects
"While the narrative and characters fail to gel, though, the genre elements and Noyer’s craftsmanship shine through."
United States

"Like the catchy song caught in your head long after a concert's ended, 'Sound of Violence' will stick with you. "
United States
Variety
"The spectacularly gruesome and grotesquely elaborate murder scenes do ample justice to even the most revered of its slasher forebears, but the procedural elements feel stilted"
Canada
Screen Anarchy
"There is an imbalance that we have to address here. It's that everything outside of Alexis' quest for sounds and her relationship with Marie feel near to afterthoughts"
United States
Variety
"'Sound of Violence' boasts perhaps the greatest giallo premise that Dario Argento never dreamed up. It’s just a shame that Noyer decides that it isn’t enough."
