Synopsis: This documentary goes behind the scenes of the prestigious San Francisco Opera to look at the lives of choristers, the backbone of every opera company. "In the Shadow of the Stars" comprises interviews with eleven singers, as well as footage of opera performances and backstage activity. It reveals the passion, love, and even obsession the performers have for the opera and their craft. Included are scenes from "The Rake's Progress", "Macbeth" and "La Bohème."
