- When their wives die on the same day in the same hospital room, two aging British World War II vets -- upper-crust Reggie (Albert Finney) and retired milkman Roy (Tom Courtenay) -- become unlikely roommates in Reggie's mansion. Their friendship blossoms until gold-digging Liz (Joanna Lumley) enters the picture with her sights set on Reggie in this beautifully acted Masterpiece Theatre comedy-drama.
