Synopsis

Maria and Karim are in love. Maria lives with her parents in a middle class suburb. She embarks on work-experience courses hoping this will lead to a propper job but not really expecting it to happen. Karim is a factory worker with a wage packet enabling him to pay his way. The new car bought on credit gives him more independence as does his flat where Maria, sneaking from home, joins him while her parents remain unaware of the relationship. Maria's carefree spirit and confidence evaporate when she discovers she is pregnant... How will she break the news to Karim, to her parents ? How will she cope with reality ?
Maria acts on impulse without much regard for the consequences of her actions and, following the theft from a large supermarket, finds herself in custody at the local police station. All alone and faced with violence, her life turns upside down.
