- Synopsis
- D.W. Griffith's first talking movie is the biography of Lincoln from his birth in a log cabin to his entry into politics and his years of power before his assassination in Ford's Theatre. It is sincere and straightforward as it relays to us his life story, including his romance with Ann Ruglefge, his learning experiences as a young lawyer, his formidable and shrewish wife Mary Todd, the Lincoln- Douglas debates and lastly his Presidency. Many gripping scenes are depicted, such as the Northern and Southern soldiers marching off to war. Huston is excellent in his portrayal of Lincoln.
