- Simon Polaris is an author with an apparent lack of interest in just about everything in his life, including his family and career. The only thing which means anything to him, to the point of obsession, is a watch owned by his psychiatrist which supposedly belonged to John F. Kennedy and was actually worn by him when he was assassinated in Dallas in 1963.
