- Synopsis
- Martin Luther's attack against the powerful Catholic Church was like a stab to the heart of an empire that survived for thousands of years. He hit some documents on the doors of Wittenberg Cathedral unleashing forces that plunged Europe into war and chaos. But Luther did more than revolutionize the Church, offered the Christian world a new vision of the human relationship with God and, in turn, redefined the human relationship with authority. Filmed across Europe-from rural Germany to the opulence of the Vatican City, Martin Luther is the dramatic story of the fall of the medieval world and the birth of the modern age.
