Synopsis / Plot
Kirsten Blohm was born in an American prison in Germany in 1946. In her search for her roots, she discovers the truth about her mother Signe Gondrup and her affair with a German officer - a love story set in war-torn Europe. ‘The German Secret’ is a story about captivity and flight, secrecy and lies.

The film follows Kirsten Blohm’s journey in her mother’s footsteps as she unravels the mystery of her origins. A journey that unveils a series of dramatic events and has far wider repercussions than she could ever have imagined. "We did not know, what we might find, when we went to Germany and Czechia, says director Lars Johansson. We were certain there were skeletons in the closet, and I tried to prepare Kirsten: It could very well turn out to be a rough going."
