- Synopsis
- "Separate Tables" touchingly and humorously examines the lives of the lonely-hearted guests at a hotel on England's south coast. Sibyl, a demure spinster on holiday with her mother, is attracted to a man who claims to be a war hero, but who's hiding his insecurities behind bravado. Eventually, Sibyl finds the courage to stand up to her overbearing mother and live her own life. The hotel's owner, Miss Cooper, is involved with a cynical writer -- until his gorgeous ex-wife shows up unexpectedly and uses her feminine wiles to lure him back.
