- A village in southern China. Yu and Man have a young daughter called Yaya, and their richer neighbour Cheng and wife Zhen have a son called Zhuang. When Zhuang dies in an accident on Man’s electric tricycle, the court orders Yu to pay 120,000 dollars, even if Man too is badly injured. When Zhen confesses that she is unable to have another child, Cheng gets drunk and forces his way into Yu’s house, demanding that she give him a new son. A distressed Yu finds herself caught up in an inevitable tragic event on the road to redemption.
