- Synopsis
- This romantic period drama was acclaimed by surrealists when it was released in 1935. Cooper stars in the titular role, an architect who travels to meet with the Duke of Towers and receive a commission from him. He discovers that the Duchess (Ann Harding) is a childhood sweetheart, and as Ibbetson undertakes his project, he and the Duchess renew their love affair. But because of her marriage and position the romance seems doomed for tragedy.
