Both aspire to act, and when Cynthia tries suicide, Heriberto becomes her protector, working behind the scenes to jumpstart her career. Through a comedy of errors, he comes to the attention of a studio head, who agrees to give Cynthia a role in a soap if Heriberto will become his boyfriend. Heriberto reluctantly accepts, and when Cynthia lands a role, she thinks her patron is an executive who assaulted her after a party.
