- Lola Arendt, an eight-year-old girl, goes missing on an island in Scotland. Martin and Sarah Arendt are so traumatised by the loss of their daughter that they end up separating. Two years later, Lola is found in exactly the same spot where she disappeared. She is alive and seems to be in perfect health, but she is unable to talk. Martin returns alone to the island to collect his daughter. His joy at being reunited with Lola is soon overtaken by his anxieties over what became of her and why she is unable to talk about her ordeal...
