After the decimation of the Second Impact, Tokyo-3 endures the onslaught of the deadly Angels. To combat this bizarre enemy, NERV constructs a fleet of towering humanoid machines—the Evas. At the controls of Eva Unit 01, Shinji Ikari struggles to accept responsibility for mankind’s fate. Rei Ayanami, the frail pilot of Eva Unit 00, might be the only person who understands his plight.
