- Synopsis
- American boxer Joe Louis (Leonard Roberts) meets German champion Max Schmeling (Til Schweiger) in the ring in 1936, and Schmeling emerges victorious. They fight in the ring once again in 1938, and Louis hospitalizes his German counterpart. Schmeling, a member of the Nazi party, survives WWII, hears of the hard times that Louis has fallen on, and seeks out his former sparring partner to help him. This begins a touching, long-term friendship between the former opponents. This docu-drama, based on a true story, originally aired on cable television.
