- In the conclusion of the Black Guardian trilogy, the TARDIS materialises on what appears to be an Edwardian racing yacht. It is soon revealed to be a disguised spacecraft, competing in an deep space race. The competitors are Eternals, immortal beings incapable of imagination or creative thought, drawing inspiration from the minds of their mortal crews. Meanwhile Turlough, the double agent in the TARDIS crew, must finally choose sides as at the end of the race lies the prize of Enlightenment...
