- Synopsis
- Lucie Manette discovers that her father is not dead, as she had always believed. He has just been released from the Bastille, where for decades he was being held for offending the Marquis St. Evrémonde. A short time later, Lucie meets and falls in love with Charles Darnay. The two marry, with Lucie never knowing that Charles Darnay is, in fact, Charles Evrémonde — nephew of the marquis who sent her father to prison.
