About this movie

This is a spectacular account of the events leading up to and through the Allied Forces' invasion of Normandy, France on D-Day (June 6), 1944 to fight the occupying Germans.  The film is particularly interesting because it looks at D-Day through the eyes of all of the participants, including the Germans, who are overwhelmed by the forces brought against them.  It is in fact a German officer who gives the story its title -- when he views the approaching Allied armada, he says, "This will be the longest day."

This 3-hour long classic WW2 film doesn't portray the Germans as the baddies. In fact they speak their own language and we read the subtitles. They are just soldiers caught up in the biggest military invasion ever created. Both sides are shown as human, not supermen or fiendish Nazis. As a black and white movie it is perhaps a bit dated, but it has superb acting and camerawork. A masterpiece.

The Longest Day is one of my favorite films is one of my favorite films and should be regarded as one of the great masterpieces in the cinematic history. The film score is used to great effect and creates a profound feeling of suspense and patriotism. This film also includes a deaf man who quite comedically says "Loud and clear sir" earlier in the film before he is deaf. Rupert is for God, King and country. The protagonist in this movie, Pluskat is a lonely man who no one likes. However despite his loneliness he displays great courage and comradery (even though no one likes him). This movie also delves deep into the history of John who has a long mustache. The film also includes disabled people. One of which is a deaf man. In conclusion The Longest Day is the best movie ever made in Bollywood.

One of the most significant events this century, portrayed by Hollywood. Historically, nearly accurate. Worth seeing or add it to your collection
