Overall: Very good, the excitement of code breaking, the antagonism of the (conservative science establishment). The interplay of characters and their personality traits is fairly strong even if a bit intellectualised and so stale (the dynamics could have been explored further for greater emotional depth) - but the story was essentially a cerebral idea more than human drama. +ve: 1) Very plausible speculation/argument for how & when alien contact may occur the reasons behind it. (most sci fi starts with premises they just turn up). 2) it also contains human dynamic in the strained relationships - power play of personalities with differing intellect, emotion and power. -ve: 3) It does not however contain classic sci fi elements of, awesome spaceship design, weapons, alien creatures ie forms, or advanced technological apparatus. 4) It follows the same old dry narrative of most sci fri (without sex or sexual innuendo) so is a bit stale and in-humorous ie so lacking style and edginess).

Rarely do I ever feel inclined to comment about movies regardless of their merits or flaws, whether that be in relation to amusement factor, scientific content or the deliverance of a simple message to humanity. Truly wished the director was intelligent enough to write and direct this movie as he seemingly, and perhaps arrogantly, believes himself to be. Perhaps the greatest disappointment lies in the fact that this movie, in the right hands, could have been something much more than a rather immature way to express the fundamental truths of this universe.

UFO is a fantastic little movie and it exceeded my expectations! If you are tired of Hollywood blockbusters that are completely over the top with too much violence and themes that are always based on fear, you should appreciate this movie. UFO is a cerebral style film and treats the audience with intelligence for a change. I could actually imagine this movie being turned into a TV series. Very well done. Alex Sharp does a great job in the lead roll. I'm going to add this movie to my "stoners collection".
