About this movie

Acclaimed Japanese director Akira Kurosawa tells a vivid story of life, loss and renewal through a series of eight dreams--from a young boy's dream of a wedding procession of fox spirits, through dreams of himself as an artist to dreams of a nuclear-poisoned future to a final dream of an old man at peace in beautiful village.

A fascinating film. It is a long, slow, sometimes sad and ultimately uplifting look at the world through Kurosawa's eyes. The problem is with the lack of subtitles. The only option is to select CC. The original film has subtitles done by the renowned film critic Donald Richie. If you watch the trailer (really a clip) on Google Play you will see the subtitles as they were intended.
