A rubbish propaganda action movie ordered by the Chinese Communist Party.Movie is full of racists scenes against westerns. We saw in IP man 3 that foreigners (The British policeman and the American factory owner) wanted to occupy a cultural centre (school) of a Chinese town. And how good Chinese punished them and their Chinese followers ( what Mao did in cultural revolution in 70s that ended up in killing of 15 million people). Now IP is doing his mission in the heart of an imperialistic country and is showing them the true nature of Chinese fight culture and is giving Americans a good lesson. All american are against Chinese and they want to get rid of China town. The Chinese girl is bullied brutally and excessively at school. bitten up by a mob of 10-15 boys and girls, simply because she was the best cheer leader. In Army Chinese soldier is badly and viciously bullied by his commander. American immigration officers bully Chinese etc... There is no end to this propaganda and victimization I felt really bad when I saw such an amount of spread of hatred to Westerns that is behind a simple fight movie and is written smartly.

Wow it's the end of the Donnie Yen Ip Man series! Overall it's a great film. Although it does pain me to say that I did not enjoy it as much as the other films. Ip Man 4 relies heavily on racism as a plot device. That's so sad. I cannot see it having a lasting appeal outside of it's local audiences. To me it was just too much and it affected the whole movie experience. It left a bad taste on my mouth in 2020. There is definitely something wrong with the writing here. Have a look at the film Master Z as an alternative to this movie. It tells a story of good vs. evil in the same universe but it does not use racism in the same way. You'll see what I mean when you watch it. Anyway I still love Donnie as Ip Man so it's a 4/5 from me. Donnie always puts on a good show, even without Sammo this time around.

I love all the Ipman movies. Donnie Yen is magnificent at his art and is a pleasure to watch. I’m going to take this for what it is. A great fictional movie that moved me and has a good story to tell.
