Hell House LLC

Directed by Stephen Cognetti

In this found-footage gem, a documentary crew visit the site of a haunted house attraction whose opening night ended with 15 unexplained deaths. Eventually the crew come across a surviving employee who has footage that shines a scary light on what really went down that night. As we watch those ill-fated thrillseekers shuffling through the horror house, the knowledge of what’s about to happen makes for a squirm-and-scream-inducing good time. Dread Central called it “a perfect fright flick for the Halloween season” which features “one of the creepiest clowns to appear in a horror movie in a long time.” Sorry Pennywise!

I should have watched this before other films but it was solid. I mean semi predictable ending. Maybe I’ll rewatch. I feel like I didn’t catch enough of the lore.

I love found footage horror movies and this one might be one of the better ones, as there's a lot of very tense and unsettling scenes. That said it falls very very hard for the trope of "why don't they leave" and the other trope of "these characters make very stupid decisions." The hook of this movie is that from the very first scene it's all talking about some event that happened so the whole movie is leading up to the grand finale - which was unsatisfying. I suspect due to a low-budget, the big reveal at the end was very very simple and didn't really live up to my expectations, but the rest of the movie was scary and gorey enough to be entertaining. I want to give this 4 stars but I just can't, but I still recommend the watch.

I really love first person POV type movies and this really hit the spot for me. It gives me V/H/S and Paranormal activity vibes and I loved it!

One of the best. Watch the directors cut, though
