The Canterville Ghost
Three hundred years ago, when Sir Simon's cowardice brought shame to the Cantervilles, he was cursed to haunt the family manor as The Canterville Ghost. England, World War II. It's been three centuries, and Sir Simon (Charles Laughton) can't even scare eight-year-old Lady Jessica (Margaret O'Brien), the current lady of the manor. Only an honest act of selfless courage by a Canterville descendent can free Sir Simon from the curse, but for three hundred years, no Canterville has been able to muster a single moment of bravery. Now, among a squad of Yank GIs billeted at the manor is Cuffy Williams (Robert Young), a distant relative of Sir Simon--and a chance for the curse to be lifted--in this delightful fantasy for the whole family.
