- Karen appears to have it all sorted: still good looking despite passing 40 with a well-paid job as a PA in financial services company DMS Ltd. She's also involved in a long standing affair with her boss, Michael Cresswell, a corrupt senior manager at the company. But it only takes a few weeks to fall apart, as the married family man Michael experiences a crisis of conscience, ends the affair and shortly after, fires Karen from her job. On her last day, she packs her belongings at the office into a box, ready to leave the heartbreak behind her and move on. Leaving late that night, she climbs into a taxi and heads home. Karen is emotionally distraught and struggling with her life slowly collapsing around her. During the journey home, Karen slowly falls asleep in the back seat and starts an oneiric conversation with the taxi driver. Initially casual dialogue turns into a painful interrogation about Karen's life that pushes her already emotional state to the limit.
