Synopsis
TV miniseries. 3 episodes. French Revolution, 1795. The time of terror is at its peak. By order of Robespierre (Ronan Vibert) and his ruthless Chief of Police Chauvelin (Martin Shaw), innocent aristocrats, peasants and priests are executed in the Guillotine. But someone challenge their power: the scarlet pimpinela, a mysterious character who is dedicated to saving innocent from the claws of the revolution. Suspecting that Pimpinela is actually an English aristocrat, Chauvelin is sent to London to investigate. There you will find Marguerite Blakeney (Elizabeth McGovern), a young French actress who was her first love and who is now the wife of the apparently frivolous Sir Percy Blackney (Richard E. Grant). Chauvelin blackmail to Marguerite to get with his help tend a trap to the mysterious character.
