- Synopsis
- The film describes the frustrated experience and love of Pan Laowu, who makes his living by draining off waste water. It reflects the suffering brought about in the Cultural Revolution, the kindness of common working people, their firm belief and their aspiration for a better life. In 1983 the film won the Prize for the Best Film awarded by the Cultural Ministry of China. And in the Fourth Hawaii International Film Festival in 1984, it gained the Prize for the Central Film in the Western Films.
