One day in 1986, a middle school baseball coach falls asleep on a bus. After he awakes, he notices that people around him are acting strangely.

Junko is selected to appear on a popular variety show. In the present, Nagisa helps find a last-minute replacement for a scandal-mired emcee.

Ichiro excitedly learns how to use a messaging app. Back in 1986, Junko gets upset when Kiyoshi receives romantic attention from someone else.

Nagisa's father tells Ichiro the story of how he met Junko. Sakae learns that a student from Kiyoshi's class has been refusing to come to school.

Ichiro counsels a TV producer who is troubled by the outdated attitude of the senior screenwriter she is set to make a new drama series with.

Junko meets a hairdresser named Naoki, who asks her out on a date. In 1986, Mutchy angrily demands that Kiyoshi tell him where Junko has gone.

Sidelined by an infidelity scandal, a disgraced TV announcer hopes to redeem himself. But when his efforts are impeded, he goes to Ichiro for advice.

One of Nagisa's coworkers comes to Ichiro to complain about something Nagisa said in an in-house magazine interview about working mothers.

Ichiro brings Nagisa back to 1986 so she can see Junko one last time. He returns to teaching but starts questioning his era's societal expectations.
