Synopsis: The Hopi believe that humans have destroyed the Earth three times through greed and corruption. We live in the Fourth World. In the world view of the Hopi, the reemergence of humanity after each destruction finds a correspondence in the growth cycle of corn. In this 1983 documentary, director Pat Ferrero profiles the religious and philosophical importance of corn among the matrilineal Hopi people, and how it influences art and the daily life of the Hopi. The film incorporates interviews with Hopi men and women from the various 13 villages.
